Round 2 of the South Burnett soccer competition was played in Wondai and Kingaroy on  March 19.

Gunners attack the Barambah goal in Division 1

Gunners faced Barambah at Wondai, with the Bears coming home triumphant in all but the important Division 1 game.

Games were played at Wondai instead of Murgon Sportsground because of a clash with the A Grade Cricket grand final.

In Division 1, Gunners  blew away an under-manned Barambah 10-1.

Gunners’ first points came from Tommy Schmidhauser in just the third minute.

This was followed shortly afterwards by Joseph Copas who kicked the first of his three goals.

Pacey Clegg was also on target, scoring two goals for Gunners.

Ayden Connolly, backing up from the Division 2 game earlier in the afternoon, scored a late face-saver for Barambah as the clock was winding down.

Gunners 10 ( Tommy Schmidhauser 3rd, Joseph Copas 9th, 48th, 61st, Jordan Hetherington 57th, Brendan Kelly 72nd, Pacey Clegg, 37th, 63rd, Neil Gurnett 43rd, Hayden Mashford 72nd)   defended Barambah 1 (Ayden Connolly 81st)

The 2nd Division game was much closer, with the Bears coming out victorious.

Barambah 3 (Ayden Connolly, Sam Kemp, Chris O’Loughlin) defended Gunners 2 (Ben Elias, Du Pham).

In the Women’s game, the Gunnettes were truly outgunned, with the Bears’ Taylah Berlin and Elle Mollenhauer dominant in attack.

Mollenhauer scored in the first minute and then followed up seven minutes later.

During an amazing spell in the second half, the Gunnettes’ goal was peppered by a relentless Barambah attack.

Eight goals were were kicked in just 15 minutes as Berlin and Mollenhauer swapped scoring opportunities.

Barambah 14 (Taylah Berlin, 30th, 32nd, 67th, 70th, 72nd, 78th;  Elle Mollenhauer 1st, 8th, 17th, 46th, 63rd,66th, 68th; CJ VanOostveen 77th)  defeated Gunnettes 0.

Nanango were all over Wests in Division 1

In Kingaroy, the home team Wests remained goalless facing the in-form Nanango Panthers.

In Division 1 , Nanango 9 (Elliott Mangan 3, Harry Sterling 2, Ike Silalat 2, Callum Cook 1, Karl Pilchlis 1) defeated Wests 0.

In Division 2,  Nanango 2 (Neil Frohloff 43rd, Aaron Collins 75th)  defeated Wests 0

The women’s division was a nil-all draw.

Wests women and Nanango played a hard-fought draw

Soccer games resume on Saturday, April 9, after the Easter break.

In Wondai:

  • Division 2 – Barambah v Wests – 12:30pm
  • Women’s – Barambah v Wests – 2:00pm
  • Division 1 – Barambah v Wests – 3:15pm

In Kingaroy:

  • Division 2 – Gunners v Nanango – 2.00pm
  • Women’s –  Gunnettes v Nanango – 3.30pm
  • Division 1 – Gunners v Nanango – 5:00pm
