The well-known Mount Auburn cattle station was passed in at $5.2 million when it went under the hammer at the Chinchilla RSL Club on Thursday.

The 27,000 acre station is located 120km north of Chinchilla and consists of one freehold and three leasehold sections.

About 1300 acres have been sown to pasture.

The homestead consists of a large, modern, timber-framed building with kitchen, dining, lounge, open plan family room, six bedrooms, bathroom and laundry.

There is also a lowset cottage with kitchen, lounge, dining room, three bedrooms, bathroom,  toilet and enclosed porch.

A breeding herd of approximately 1000 with progeny was included in the sale.

Auctioneers Elders are now negotiating with the top bidders.
