Cattle producers have been reminded that the deadline for public submissions on the location of the tick line closes February 29.
Queensland’s Chief Veterinary Officer Dr Allison Crook said it was very important that producers have their say on the location of the tick line.
“In particular feedback is required from those property owners living along the current tick line or in the current control zone,” she said.
“Cattle ticks cost the Queensland cattle industry millions of dollars every year, so it is important that Queensland has a sustainable system in place to reduce their impacts.
“The feedback received will inform a new cattle tick management framework for Queensland that meets the needs of our diverse and rapidly changing livestock industry.
“This is the first time in 30 years that we’ve had an opportunity to amend the location of the cattle tick line, so it’s crucial that everyone has the 0pportunity to have their say.”
Feedback can be provided through the cattle tick online survey, or by completing a printed copy of the survey available by calling 13-25-23.
