Member for Callide Jeff Seeney is apparently eyeing off a career in Federal politics.
Mr Seeney told ABC News on Tuesday that he was thinking about tossing his hat into the ring for the seat of Wide Bay, which will become vacant at the next Federal Election when current MP Warren Truss retires.
The Federal seat of Wide Bay and the State seat of Callide partially overlap.
Mr Seeney told the ABC he would make a decision whether to run when the LNP calls for nominations for the seat.
If successful at the pre-selection, a by-election would have to be held in Callide, a safe LNP seat.
Mr Seeney has sat on the Opposition backbenches since the wash-up of the LNP’s massive 2015 election loss in Queensland.
He served as Deputy Premier from 2012-2015.
The former Monto Shire councillor was elected to represent The Nationals in Callide at the 1998 State Election.
