Cattle are continuing to fetch good prices in local sales.
The 950 head which were yarded in Murgon on Tuesday, February 16 found an eager market in what observers described as one of the best yardings at Murgon for some time.
Cattle were drawn from Eidsvold, Mundubbera, Gayndah, Mt Perry, Coringa, Durong, Nanango, Kingaroy and the Murgon district.
Sale highlights:
- 542kg Braford Steers a/c Hanwood Fish Hatchery sold to $2.86 c/kg for $1551.
- Darlington and Son of Binjour sold Charolais cross steers for $1903.
- Hereford steers from Manumbar sold for $1506 at $2.84 c/kg.
- Santa cows from A. Quinn of Tansey sold for $1411 and $2.35 c/kg.
- G. and T. Campbell of Paradise Dam sold Santa cows for $1292 at $2.37 c/kg.
- 525 kg Droughtmaster cows from M. Donahue of Tansey sold for $1245 and $2.37 c/kg.
- A draft of Santa cows from D. McLennan of Mt Perry sold for an average of $1058 at $2.27 c/kg and 464 kg. The line topped at $1146 and $2.34 c/kg.
- 512kg Santa cross cows from J. Zillman of Gayndah sold for $1201 and $2.34 c/kg.
- Cows over 500 kg averaged $2.30 c/kg, while cows 400-500 kg averaged $2.27 c/kg. Lighter cows under 400 kg sold to $2 c/kg.
- Heavy bulls sold to $2.48 and $2388, while lighter bulls sold to $2.80 c/kg.
- Hereford steers from Campview Grazing at Manumbar sold for $1779 (3.29) & $1527 (3.29).
- V. Browning of Moffatdale sold 486 kg Santa steers for $3.26 c/kg, returning $1587.
- 460 kg Droughtmaster steers a/c W. and K. Sippel at Redgate sold to $3.26 c/kg for $1500.
