Readers may have seen some new school uniforms around Kingaroy over the past few weeks.

St John’s Lutheran School has consulted with parents and launched a phase-in period for the the primary girls’ formal dresses.

“When our secondary school began in 2014 we consulted with the students about possibilities for the new formal and sports uniforms,” principal Helen Folker said.

“One fabric they all decided upon was the striped fabric used in the girls’ and boys’ formal shirts.

“We have had lovely feedback about how great these uniforms look when the students are out and about in the community, such as when they are delivering Meals on Wheels.”

Mrs Folker said parents with younger children then decided an update of the primary girls’ dress was needed to bring it into line with the secondary uniform.

She said the previous brown tartan dress had served the St John’s school community well for the past 26 years, and was recognisable around the South Burnett, however parents felt it needed an update.

Primary aged girls from Prep to Year 6 have been able to buy the new dresses since late last year and they will be phased in over the next year.
