South Burnett Division 5 councillor Kathy Duff will be returned to office unopposed after nominations for the March 19 Council elections closed at noon on Tuesday.

No other candidates nominated for her Division.

But Cr Duff will not be declared officially elected until the Queensland Electoral Commission gives its formal assent.

And Division 5 voters will still need to turn out to polling booths on March 19 to cast their vote for Mayor, as well as give their view in a referendum about whether or not Queensland should move to four-year parliamentary terms.

Division 6 councillor Ros Heit faces a late challenge from Mr Uwe (Tom) Nowack from Inverlaw.

There were no other surprises, though, and the candidates voters will need to choose amongst on March 19 will be:

Mayor:

  • Michael Brown
  • Keith Campbell
  • Sheena Lindholm
  • Grant Newson
  • Damien Tessmann

Division 1:

  • Roz Frohloff
  • Caroline Haskard
  • Steve Jeffery
  • Sandy Towell

Division 2:

  • Wayne Browning
  • Emeric Charles
  • Liz Hollens-Riley
  • Gavin Jones
  • David Kinson
Division 3:

  • Abigail Andersson
  • Ace Bleney
  • Stan Corbett
  • Deb Dennien
  • Danita Potter

Division 4:

  • Terry Fleischfresser
  • Andrew Saal

Division 5:

  • Kathy Duff – returned unopposed

Division 6:

  • Ros Heit
  • Uwe (Tom) Nowack

The ballot paper draws – which determine the order in which candidates will appear on voting slips – will be finalised on Wednesday morning, February 17.
