A heavily pregnant woman was remanded back in custody for a week when she appeared by videolink from the Brisbane Women’s Prison in Kingaroy Magistrates Court on Monday afternoon.
Sky Anne-Marie Gallagher was charged with failing to dispose of syringe which police allegedly found in her handbag.
However, Gallagher claimed her handbag had been stolen and when she went to retrieve it from the person she knew had taken it, the syringe must have been placed in it.
Gallagher was on parole at the time, so a return-to-prison warrant was issued and she was sent back to jail to serve the remainder of a three-year sentence imposed in October 2014.
She said a detective had told her to plead not guilty as it was not her syringe.
Gallagher said she was just six weeks away from having the baby.
The charge was adjourned for a week to allow police to check her claim.
