You’d have to be crazy to run five kilometres in this heat wouldn’t you? And with a thunderstorm looming??

The threat of rain wasn’t enough to stop the Kingaroy Nutters running group from holding their first run for 2016 in Kingaroy on Sunday afternoon.

The group was formed last April and consists of runners of all ages and abilities.

Some are just beginners while others have competed in world-class events, including the Honolulu Marathon.

However, a handicap system means that, hopefully, they should all cross the finishing line about the same time.

The group usually meets in Lions Park in Kingaroy (opposite The Peanut Van) on the last Sunday of every month.

Sunday’s run consisted of a five kilometre loop along the Town Common pathway and through the Industrial Estate back to Lions Park.

Spokesman Dan O’Connor said between 10 and 12 runners usually take part every month.
