An electrical fire in a storeroom of the Royal Hotel at Yarraman forced the building to be evacuated on Friday evening.

The small fire started in an electrical connection in the two-storey wooden building.

A fire crew was called to the hotel about 6:30pm but found the flames had already been extinguished.

A QFES spokesman said a small area of wall had been charred.

Firefighters stayed on site until 7:40pm after an electrician was called.

The manager of the hotel refused to comment.
