The Police Forensic Crash Unit is investigating two separate fatal road crashes which occurred in the North Burnett region in less than 24 hours.

In the latest incident, a vehicle burst into flames on the side of the Isis Highway near Biggenden early on Saturday morning.

About 2:00am, police were advised a vehicle was on fire on the side of the highway, about seven kilometres south-west of Biggenden.

The sole occupant died at the scene.

Police have so far not been able to identify the deceased.

On Friday afternoon, a woman was killed in a single vehicle motorcycle crash at Mungy, west of Mt Perry.

Initial police investigations indicate about 2:15pm the rider was travelling west on the Monto-Mt Perry Road, about 10km out of Mt Perry, when her motorcycle left the road and hit a sign.

The woman, aged in her 50s, died at the scene.
