Wayne Browning and Josh Harvey entertain the crowd at Blackbutt Showground last year

January 18, 2016

Australia Day (Tuesday, January 26) is going to be big again in Blackbutt this year with two events scheduled which should help put some patriotic smiles on lots of faces.

The Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt committee, in conjunction with the South Burnett Regional Council, will be holding a free Community Breakfast from 7:00am to 9:00am at the Blackbutt Showgrounds.

As well as the tucker, there’ll be games, children’s activities and live music by local band, Ausphonics.

The Community Breakfast will then be followed by the Blackbutt Benarkin Lions Club’s 2nd Annual Charity Cricket Bash.

Registrations close at 8:30am with the game getting underway at the showgrounds at 9:00am.

Cost to register as a player is $10, which includes a cap and a medallion.

Spectators will be asked for a gold coin donation.

All proceeds raised will be donated to the RACQ CareFlight helicopter rescue service.

There will be face-painting, a jumping castle and merry-go-round for the children, and plenty of food, refreshments and a licensed bar for adults.

Camping and powered sites are available if people want to stay overnight.
