A special Council meeting to discuss the future of the South Burnett Private Hospital has been deferred for three days.

The meeting – which was originally planned for Monday, January 18 – will now be held on Thursday, January 21.

Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said he had taken the decision to postpone the meeting after an advertisement about it published in a local newspaper on Friday had failed to include the meeting date.

“This was an unfortunate error,” the Mayor said.

“But since a correction can’t be printed until Tuesday, in fairness to everybody I’ve decided to reschedule the meeting to Thursday.”

The Mayor said he thought the issue of the hospital’s future was very important and wanted as many people as possible to attend the meeting.

“We receive almost 10,000 signatures from local residents to keep the hospital open in a little over a week last year,” he said.

“There is a lot of interest in this topic, and everyone who wants to attend should be given every opportunity to do so.”

The meeting will be held at the Warren Truss Chambers in Glendon Street, Kingaroy at 9:00am.
