A faulty fluorescent light sparked a fire scare at the South Burnett Regional Council chambers in Drayton Street, Nanango, on Wednesday afternoon .

The fire brigade was summoned when smoke was seen coming from the roof of the building.

A QFES spokesperson said three urban fire units attended.

The firefighters checked the building to track down the origin of the smoke but could find no sign of flames, just smoke coming from a fluorescent light.

“It was left in the hands of an electrician,” the QFES spokesperson said.
