The Federal Government’s Mobile Service Centre truck will be visiting the region next week to help South Burnett residents in outlying areas access information about government services.

The Golden Wattle truck will be at:

  • Cooyar  – Monday (December 7) – 9:30am to 4:00pm, opposite the Cooyar Hotel in McDougall Street
  • Chinchilla – Wednesday (December 9) – 9:00am to 4:00pm, in the Cultural Centre car park in Middle Street

Human Services Minister Stuart Robert said the Mobile Service Centre would offer Centrelink and Medicare payments and services, Child Support information and hearing health checks.

“The Mobile Service Centre is a travelling outreach service that shortens the distance between rural and regional communities and government services,” Mr Robert said.

“Golden Wattle is a truck set up as an office, custom-built with the same technology as any other Service Centre that delivers Medicare or Centrelink payments and services, including access to self-service facilities.

“It is wheelchair accessible and has a soundproof room where staff can conduct free hearing health checks.”

Federal Member for Maranoa Bruce Scott said the Mobile Service Centre ensured people were able to connect with the latest government services, regardless of where they lived.
