Traffic accident “scam” calls publicised recently by police in the Darling Downs area have also occurred in the South Burnett.
South Burnett Online was cold-called on Thursday by a man claiming to be from a solicitor’s office who said he had information we had been involved in a car crash during the past two years.
We hung up.
However, if the call had continued the man – who was dialing on a “private” number – probably would have suggested we were entitled to compensation.
Calls like this have been reported recently from the Goombungee area.
Police have warned this is a scam and remind residents to never give out personal details over the phone, especially financial information.
