November 18, 2015
It’s that time of the year when hairdressers get booked out, hotrods get polished and everyone’s looking for that “special” outfit.
St Mary’s Catholic College got the 2015 school formal season rolling on Wednesday night with their Valedictory Dinner for Year 12s, held for the first time at Cassis At Booie.
Usually St Mary’s book the Tobruk Room at Kingaroy RSL, but this venue is currently closed for renovations.
The 19 students arrived in style at Cassis, in everything from a stretch limousine to a classic Jeep Cherokee stationwagon.
They were greeted by friends, family, younger students and ex-students, all eager to catch a glimpse of the gowns, hair-dos and fancy suits.
The Year 12s entered the restaurant along a red carpet, pausing for photographs along the way.
A running commentary by St Mary’s teacher Jane Iszlaub and Damien Martoo kept the crowd entertained between each car arriving.
This will be St Mary’s principal Michael Nayler’s last Valedictory Dinner in Kingaroy as he will be transferring to St Michael’s College at Merrimac in the New Year.
Congratulations to all the Grade 12 Saint Mary’s Catholic College students on your graduation and I hope you all enjoyed the Valedictory Dinner at Cassis Restaurant. Best of luck and may all your dreams come true.
