A Brisbane-based company is proposing to mine silica and possibly other minerals on a 31ha parcel of land near Cooyar.
Mud Consultancy Services Pty Ltd applied to renew its mining lease of an area adjacent to Cooyar-Rangemore Road last November.
This was granted in March.
The area is part of a privately owned block being used to raise cattle so Mud Consultancy would have to compensate the current owners if the mine went ahead.
The company is part-owned by Col Clarey, former managing director of Maidenwell Diatomite Australia (the “kitty litter” mine), and John Vella, from Leppington Speedy Seedlings in Sydney.
