With Remembrance Day coming on November 11, the Winds Of Change Art Gallery in George Street, Nanango will be commemorating the memory of Australians at war with a special exhibition.

During November the Gallery will be displaying a collection of memorabilia and military paraphernalia which includes uniforms from past and recent conflicts, and artifacts including boots and bullet belts; a brass bugle; framed photographs; and a selection of illustrated books from the Crimean War, WWI, WWII, and the Korea and Vietnam Wars.

The collection is on loan from Nanango RSL Sub-branch’s military historian Peter Riches, and is now open for viewing.

Admission to view it is completely free.

It will be held at the Gallery on Saturday, November 28 between 9:30am and 3:30pm.

The workshop costs $50 for non-members or $45 for members, and includes morning tea (BYO lunch).

If you’re interested in Plein Air (ie open air) painting, the Gallery’s Plein Air Group meets every Thursday between 10:00am and 1:00pm.

Members explore and share techniques, tricks and tips with pastels, paint, sketching and more.

All skill levels are welcome and there is no charge to join in.

The Gallery’s pottery group meets every Friday between 10:00am and 12:00 noon.

Members usually create a new piece every week, but spaces are limited.

If you’d like to take part, contact the Gallery beforehand on 0409-060-315 to confirm your place.

Cost is $5 per meeting plus materials.

The Gallery’s annual Christmas Hamper Raffle is offering great first, second and third prizes this year, and tickets are now on sale for just $2 each.

They can be obtained at Gallery or at the Nanango IGA supermarket on Tuesday November 17 and 24, and Friday 13, 20 and 27.

The raffle will be drawn on Wednesday, December 16 and winners will be notified as soon as possible afterwards.

The Gallery is planning for the future, and the Nanango Art Society are still calling for Expressions of Interest for arts projects and exhibitions in 2016.

Members of the public are very welcome to become part of our independent arts cooperative, and get involved in exciting projects and exhibitions showcasing talented local artists.
