Simon Schaefer, from Mitsubishi Motors, and John Dundas Service Manager Neville Eckart congratulate Carlos Dominiak, centre, on his competition win

November 3, 2015

John Dundas Mitsubishi technician – that’s “mechanic” to you and me – Carlos Dominiak has proven he’s the best in Queensland.

Carlos, who has been been working at the John Dundas dealership in Kingaroy since he started his apprenticeship in 1998, has won a study tour to Japan after coming out top in Queensland in a skills competition organised by Mitsubishi.

Entrants had to fill out a series of questionnaires during the year. The best were then selected to take part in a regional final in Brisbane. From this, four finalists from across Queensland were pitted against each other in a hands-on diagnostic test.

And Carlos came out on top!

His study trip to Tokyo and Osaka, which includes both plant tours and sight-seeing, is already booked but Carlos also has the opportunity of being named the top Mitsubishi technician in Australia.

Later this month, he’ll head off to Adelaide to compete against winners from other States.

Success isn’t something new for Carlos who was educated at Blackbutt State School, Yarraman P-10 and Nanango State High School.

He has previously won a State award in a similar Holden competition.

Mitsubishi Motors After Sales Development manager Simon Schaefer travelled to Kingaroy on Tuesday to congratulate Carlos.

John Dundas Mitsubishi dealer principal Mark Huston said he was very proud of what Carlos had achieved.

“This dealership has a very full training program to keep our technicians and apprentices up-to-date on all the new cars coming out,” he said.
