South Burnett Regional Council has officially named the a strip of land in front of the old rail sheds in Wooroolin “Dalton Place”.

A small naming ceremony was held at the site on Friday morning with members of the Dalton family and South Burnett councillors.

South Burnett mayor Wayne Kratzmann said the Council had voted to recognise a family that had been involved in Wooroolin for many years.

“A Dalton has been operating a business of some sort continuously in the main street of Wooroolin since 1903,” he said.

The most recent patriarch of the clan was Ken Dalton who died last year aged 77 and lived in Wooroolin all his life.

Mayor Kratzmann officially unveiled the sign with help from Ken’s son John, husband of former councillor Cheryl Dalton.
