The annual Cooyar Trail Bike Ride – the major fundraiser for the Cooyar State School P&C – attracted a good crowd of competitors at the weekend, but unfortunately two riders also suffered serious injuries.

On Sunday afternoon, the RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter airlifted two patients injured in separate accidents.

The first was a Kingaroy woman, aged in in her early twenties, who suffered suspected spinal injuries after falling from her bike at low speed.

A second rider, a male in his late forties from Brisbane, suffered a serious lower leg injury in a fall.

The rescue helicopter met Queensland Ambulance Service paramedics at the Cooyar State School Oval to airlift both patients to Nambour General Hospital.

Both travelled in a stable condition.
