The monthly triples clash between Nanango and Yarraman is always a keenly contested match. But last Saturday’s tournament was a real battle.

Three teams from each club clashed over two games, each of twelve ends.

Two points were allocated for each end won and five points for each game won and Nanango, with a home ground advantage, ultimately took out the honours.

The formidable combination of Bob Hammond, Delvin Powys and skip Warren Arthur topped the scoreboard with 44 points.

Kingaroy News

The Consistancy Singles final was played at Kingaroy Bowls Club on Thursday between Mark Williams and Danny Holligan over 30 ends.

With both players playing great bowls. it was Danny Holligan who came out on top 153-137.

The object of Consistancy Singles is to draw as close to the jack as possible and score points as follows: 4 points for the closest bowl, 3 points for the next closest, 2 points for the next and 1 point for the fourth closest.

Thursday saw the monthly trip by Nanango Bowls club members to Kingaroy to play in the Triples Trophy day.

With a light shower to start with and threatening skies, 36 bowlers hit the greens with conditions of play 5 points for a win and 1 point for each end won.

Proston News

Last Sunday was one of the highlights on the Proston Bowls Club’s calendar: President Noel Young’s President’s Day.

Twelve teams participated on the occasion, with some caming from as far away as Roma and Gayndah.

South Burnett Clubs helped fill the green.

The Association President’s team lead by Nev Williams won the day with a score of 35 point.

Runner-Up was the Wondai team with 31 points.

Congratulations to Gina Ryder, Ken Litherland, Kev Miller and Gerry Mooney, who were the winners of the Seafood Day held at Woodford on Thursday, October 1.

Jenny Edwards, Kathy Hill, Val Wells and Elayne Moat attended the Woodford Birthday Fours on Thursday, October 8. They played a team from Bongaree and had a most enjoyable day.

On Tuesday, in Star of the Green, Marg Worrall defeated Ernie Herbert in a game that had the spectators enthralled. Marg will now play Jenny Edwards on Tuesday, October 27.

And at Tuesday’s Jackpot Trophy Day, the jackpot didn’t go off again, so it will rise to a hefty $365 on October 27.

Winners of the day were Jeff Welden, Dave Scott and Val Wells, who defeated Marg Worrall, Kelly Charters and Elayne Moat 26-7.
