The re-opening of the Kingaroy Aquatic Centre has been delayed until Wednesday, November 4.
A South Burnett Regional Council spokesman said the postponement had been caused by the complex nature of the renovations and delays in the supply of materials.
This had pushed the timeframe for refilling the pool to clash with the essential work at the Gordonbrook Water Treatment Plant which has put Kingaroy under temporary water restrictions.
Council won’t be able to refill the pool until October 26, when the restrictions are lifted.
The pool will take up to 46 hours to fill and a further five to seven days is necessary to treat and obtain a safe chemical balance in the water.
Pool managers Donna and Joe Dangerfield have been in touch with schools to change swimming school lessons to ensure children do not miss out on their tuition.
Classes will continue in the heated Learn To Swim Pool throughout the project.
