There were only 10 bowlers on the greens on Tuesday, which meant only one game of triples and one game of pairs was played.

The shortage of players didn’t lead to any lack of excitement, though.

The Triples game went right down to the wire, with only one point separating the teams after 21 ends.

Results:

  • Marg Moore and John Lacey def. Evelyn Taylor and Sharon Yeates 27-10
  • Des Ritchards, Norma Rook and Beryl Woods def. Bessie Thorp, M. Wolski and Gladys Slatter 22-21

Yarraman News

The Yarraman club championship calendar is getting to an interesting stage.

The second semi-final of the club’s Mixed Triples was played on Wednesday. It was a great game to watch.

John Moore, Jenny Moore and Alison Anderson defeated Neil Johnston, Robyn Diercke and Chris MacLeod 18-14.

Moore’s team were dragging the chain early in the match, and the game was 13-6 to Johnston on the 14th end.

But it became a level 14-all on the 20th end, and had turned into a nail-biter at this stage.

Then Moore’s trio scored a four on the last end to clinch the match.

They will now play Brian Dugdell, Kay Dugdell and George Wolski in the final.

PS: A social game of interest played on Wednesday was Kay Dugdell, Eunice Smith and Arthur Smith, who defeated Di Currell, Yvonne Schultz and Margaret Willoughby 10-8.

Murgon News

In the last few weeks I’ve been reporting that the Murgon Bowls Club planned to hold its Invitation Open Fours this coming Saturday, October 17.

However I was advised on Monday the club did not receive sufficient nominations from neighbouring clubs, so they have reluctantly decided to cancel the event.
