The South Burnett Community Orchestra will be hosting a weekend of workshops for orchestral instrument players this weekend that will be capped off by a free community concert on Sunday afternoon.
The workshops will be held at the Kingaroy High School Assembly Hall at the corner of the Bunya Highway and Alford Street from 8:30am to 5:00pm on Saturday, October 4; and 10:45am to around 2:00pm on Sunday, October 5.
At the workshops local musicians will have the chance to work with highly skilled visiting tutors in the areas of woodwind, brass, percussion and strings, learning how to strengthen both their individual and ensemble playing skills.
The training program is being subsidised by the State Government and the South Burnett Regional Council’s RADF fund, so the cost of the workshops is just $10 (which includes sheet music and morning and afternoon teas).
And on Sunday afternoon, the training program will be capped off with a free Symphony In The South Burnett concert at the Hall, beginning at 3:00pm.
The concert will bring together the workshop participants and tutors, and is expected to run for 75 minutes.
