UPDATED 9:45pm – Eight fire crews are at a fire burning in the vicinity of Collins Road, Emu Farm Road and Wattle Camp Forestry Road at Cherbourg.
The fire broke out about 4:30pm and firefighters are currently conducting backburning operations to contain the blaze.
Residents in the area may be affected by a large smoke haze and have been advised to close windows and doors and keep medication on hand if suffering from a respiratory illness.
Residents have been urged to be vigilant and to call Triple Zero if they believe their property comes under threat.
