The Taromeo Country Music Club and the Blackbutt community have been left devastated by the cruel theft of more than $13,000 worth of music equipment and sound gear from the Blackbutt Memorial Hall.

Acting Senior Constable Justin Drier, from Blackbutt police, said the equipment went missing sometime between Tuesday and Wednesday this week.

“Some of the equipment had been left set up after the Talent Quest during Bloomin’ Beautiful,” he said.

Items taken include a movie projector and projector mount, an electronic screen, a Pioneer amplifier and three Pioneer speakers.

The thieves also targeted the Taromeo Country Music Club, taking guitars and guitar amps, microphones, guitar leads and amplifier leads stored by the club at the hall.

“They even took some tamborines!” Acting Snr Const Drier said.

One of the items stolen was heavy which leads police to suspect there was probably more than one person involved in the thefts.

A small quantity of alcohol was also taken from a fridge.

Police forensic officers have examined the building but have found no signs of forced entry.

Acting Snr Const Drier said police were now checking CCTV footage from nearby shops.

“Anyone who saw anything suspicious near the hall should call Blackbutt Police on (07) 4163-0211 or Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.”
