A street parade will be one of the highlights of this year’s Bendigo Community Bank Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt festival.
The annual festival – which is rapidly becoming Blackbutt’s biggest weekend of the year – is now less than a fortnight away (September 12-13).
The inaugural Bloomin’ Beautiful street parade will start at 1:00pm on Saturday, September 13, which will mean the D’Aguilar Highway will be closed from Sutton Street to Hart Street for about an hour.
Diversions will be in place for through traffic.
Also new to the festival this year is the woodchop and chainsaw program which will be held in the Blackbutt Showgrounds woodchopping arena on both days.
Then there’s the “Boots’n Bulldust Bands at the Butt Talent Search” which will be held immediately after the parade, from 2:00pm on Saturday.
First prize is a $5000 Launch Pad Package from Pushworth Management Agency.
The competition is open to three age groups – seniors, juvenile and juniors in the country or country rock genre. For more information, or an application form, contact Ellie on 0418-150-461 or by email
Wild Horse FM will be broadcasting live from “Kids Central” at Les Muller Park where there will be free Kangagang workshops, kids’ activities and shows, Dreamtime Reptiles, face-painting, jumping castle, model trains, show bags and novelty stalls.
Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt committee chairman Jeff Connor said he would like to thank the many small and large businesses and corporate sponsors of this year’s festival.
“A first for 2015 has seen the committee introduce naming rights to the festival and some of the events,” Jeff said.
Major sponsors include: Bendigo Community Bank, Ken Mills Toyota, South Burnett Regional Council, South Burnett Design and Print, Boots and Bulldust Inc., and Wild Horse FM.
