A woman aged in her 30s has been flown to hospital with suspected internal injuries after a crash on the Burnett Highway at Booubyjan on Wednesday morning.

A Sunshine Coast-based RACQ CareFlight Rescue helicopter was called to the site shortly after noon and landed just metres away from the wrecked car.

A spokesperson said it was believed the woman was trying to overtake a truck and caravan on a long, straight stretch of road when the crash happened.

Her car left the road and came to a stop about 20m away.

The patient was treated on scene by QAS and CareFlight medical teams before being airlifted to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition.
