Wondai Lions Club is keen for the town to live up to its “friendly town ” reputation – a title it has won in several Tidy Towns competitions.

The Lions Club is organising a free meet’n’greet afternoon tea to allow all residents of Wondai and Proston to mingle, chat and get to know each other.

Former Wondai Mayor Percy Iszlaub said that in the past meet’n’greet afternoons had been organised for new residents to town, but this time it was hoped even long-term residents would come along.

He said it was all about “communication”, people talking to each other.

Invitations have also been sent to local community groups.

Percy said the Meet’n’Greet would be held from 2:00pm to 4:30pm on Saturday, October 24, at the Wondai Lions Club pavilion at the Wondai Sportsground.

He said the event would be free but the Lions Club would probably put out a bucket for voluntary gold coin donations.
