Fire investigators probing Wednesday night’s devastating house fire in Millar Street, Yarraman, are also investigating a second fire that started in a nearby house.
Senior-Constable Damien Corsan, from Yarraman Police, said there had been an attempted arson in a house at 14 Toomey Street (the D’Aguilar Highway) on the same night.
A window was broken near the toilet and a fire was started.
“Luckily the house didn’t catch fire; the fire seems to have burned itself out,” Snr Constable Corsan said.
He said at this stage, there was no direct link between the two incidents but police were very mindful of the fact that the attempted arson and the Millar Street house fire had occurred within a very short distance.
Fire investigators from Kingaroy today visited both buildings.
Snr Constable Corsan said police were very keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in Yarraman on Wednesday night.
He said they could call Yarraman Police on (07) 4163-8211 or stay anonymous by contacting Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.
