The South Burnett Saints have continued their march towards the Darling Downs Division 2 AFL Grand Final with an easy victory over University in Toowoomba on Saturday.

The Saints dominated throughout the game, finishing ahead 25.10 (160) to 5.2 (32).

South Burnett goals were kicked by Ty Snow (7), Adam Bowater (6), Carl Stevenson (2), Jack Day (2), Joshua Miller (2), Braeden Snow (2), Brad Edwards, Brent Snow, Paul Judge and Adam Branch.

After last week’s easy victory over Warwick, the South Burnett Saints’ women’s side came crashing back to earth on Saturday against Toowoomba.

Renee Irvine kicked the Saints’ sole goal in the first quarter. The final score was 24.20 (164) to 1.0 (6).

The Saints’ U16s had a tough match against University on Saturday but kept the equal competition leaders guessing until the third quarter.

At the end of the first quarter, the Cougars led by just one point. At half-time, the margin was just four points: 3.6 (24) to 3.2 (20).

But University changed gears after the break and the Saints only managed one more goal in the game.

The final score was University 10.11 (71), South Burnett 4.3 (27).

Saints’ goals were kicked by Shaun Pukallus (3) and Amos Hicks.

There’s only one round of fixtures left in the Darling Downs competition.

Next weekend, the senior men’s side comes up against Highfields at Highfields, the women will play Goondiwindi in Goondiwindi, and the U16s willl meet Highfields at Highfields.
