The ball went which way?

Local rivals Chinchilla gave the South Burnett Saints a scare at the midway point of their seniors AFL game played in Kingaroy on Sunday.

The Suns were within one point of the competition leaders going into half-time, which is not what Saints’ fans would have been expecting as their team has sailed through the Darling Downs B Grade competition undefeated.

However, as the game progressed they could relax as the local team steadily pulled ahead.

Ty Snow dominated with eight goals.

Final score was 17.5 (107) to 11.7 (73).

Other Saints’ goals were kicked by Jack Day (3), Dane Sheraton (2), Brad Pressnell , Brent Snow, Daniel Rogers and Dylan Bowater.

Earlier in the day, South Burnett U16s were defeated  7.11 (53) by University 17.9 (111).

The Saints dubbed Sunday’s round – their last home game for the year – as a “Heritage” day and took to the field in guernseys harking back to the days of the Kingaroy Bulldogs.

On Saturday, the Saints’ women’s team faced Warwick in Warwick.

The visitors dominated, finishing 14.20 (104) to the Redbacks’ 2.0 (12).

Saints’ goals were kicked by Renee Irvine (6), Greer Shepherd (2), Jessica Langton (2), Natalie Fenton (2), Tamika Schick  and Reanna Fenton.

Blast from the past … the Saints’ tricolour guernseys harked back to a earlier era
