The quality of Kingaroy’s water could take another dip from Monday.
Sunwater has notified the South Burnett Regional Council that the Boondooma-Tarong Pipeline – part of the system that currently supplies Boondooma Dam water to Kingaroy- will be temporarily closed to carry out routine maintenance work.
This is the second time this year that Kingaroy’s water has been switched back to Gordonbrook Dam temporarily.
Residents may notice a change in the characteristics of the water during this time, particularly odour, however a Council spoksman said the water would still meet the strict drinking water quality standards that Council is required to meet.
Council should be able to access the water from the Boondooma-Tarong pipeline again from August 9, but it will take up to 48 hours after this changeover before the Gordonbrook Dam sourced water will be flushed through the system.
Residents of Kingaroy have also been reminded to continue to adhere to the Level 2 water restrictions that are currently in place.
