Nanango Casino Night
Zoe Shelly, Elvis (aka Jeff Hancox) and Hannah Kavney added a touch of glamour to last year’s inaugural Mardi Gras Casino Night

The Nanango Funfest Committee are expecting a bumper night of gaming this Saturday when they hold their second annual Casino Night at the Nanango Cultural Centre.

And if it repeats last year’s effort, guests can expect a really great night out.

The event is a fundraiser for the new Nanango New Years Eve Mardi Gras and will feature professional gaming tables and croupiers from Brisvegas, along with live entertainment from popular performer Jeff Hancox.

Guests will receive $1000 in playing money, two free drinks and finger foods all night as they attempt to “break the bank” playing any of the five popular casino games on offer: blackjack, roulette, craps, Texas hold’em poker or casino wars.

And in true James Bond tradition, it’s an exclusive formal event – suits or evening wear for men; after five, cocktail or full-length dresses for the ladies; and only 100 guests in total.

“Some people have asked us if they need to gamble real money and the simple answer is no,” Funfest committee member Barry Green said.

“Everyone starts out with $1000 in fun money and the aim of the night is to come out with the biggest pile of fun money possible at the end of it.

“We’ll have prizes for the winners, but if you don’t win you’ll still have a great time trying. And it won’t cost you a cent.”

Most tickets to the night are now sold, but there are still a few available if you get along to the Nanango Energy Centre in Henry Street before Saturday afternoon; or phone 0400-474-968 or (07) 4171-0216.

Tickets are $80 a single or $140 per couple, and no tickets will be available at the door.
