South-east Queensland was rattled by a 5.3 magnitude earthquake this morning followed by two smaller aftershocks.
There were no reports of serious damage although some buildings were briefly evacuated in Bundaberg and engineers were called in to double-check some of the city’s older buildings.
South Burnett residents reported feeling the quake in Goomeri, Murgon, Kingaroy and Maidenwell with other reports coming in from as far south as Toowoomba.
Photographs of minor wall cracks have been posted on social media from Noosa Heads, Nambour, Redcliffe, Ormeau and the Gold Coast.
The first quake occurred at 9:40:43 am, followed by a 3.9 tremor at 9:45:00 am and a 3.4 shake at 11:59:02.
