A home just four kilometres out of Blackbutt has won two prestigious awards in the Downs & Western division of the Queensland Master Builders Housing & Construction awards.
It belongs Jeff and Dr Daphene Connor, from the Blackbutt Medical Centre, and was constructed by Alan Cameron Building, based in Buderim.
This is the same building company that built the couple’s modern Blackbutt Medical Centre, which was officially opened in 2013.
“We were so impressed by them that when it came to our private home we decided to go with them again,” Jeff told southburnett.com.au
Yarraman resident Wayne Emms’ son Gerard was site manager for both projects.
The home was finished about Christmas 2014 and the couple moved in January
Jeff said the construction work took about 10 months, with workers camping on site for four days a week.
Trades were completed by a mixture of South Burnett and external companies.
Blackbutt Plumbing handled all the plumbing work.
The two awards, which were announced on Saturday, were “Housing Award – Individual Home $1.26m– $2m” ; and “Speciality Award – Best Bathroom”.
Awards were based on on-site inspections by independent judges.
Regional winners will now go on to compete at the State awards in October.

Viewed your spectacular home and just goes to show the creative talent that resides in the South Burnett and in particular, Blackbutt. As President of ‘Butt Arts Gallery, I’m fond of referring to the gallery as “The Jewel of Blackbutt” but there is a new shining “Diamond” close by. Congratulations to the architect/designer and the craftsmanship of the builders. Blackbutt is looking bright.
