The South Burnett PCYC will be running winter school vacation programs in Murgon, Cherbourg and Kingaroy to keep youngsters safely amused

State schools will begin their 16 day Winter vacation this Saturday, June 27 … but parents looking for school holiday activities to keep youngsters amused will have plenty of options to choose from, thanks to the South Burnett PCYC.

In Murgon, the PCYC will be running a wide range of free daytime activities such as basketball, soccer, netball and volleyball at their Macalister Street complex throughout the holidays.

They’ll also be running a combined junior Blue Light disco and Mystery Movie Night on Friday, July 3.

The junior disco will run until it gets dark, then a PG-rated film will screen from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, followed by an M-rated movie for children aged 15 and over from 8:30pm to 10:30pm.

And on State Of Origin night (Wednesday, July 8) the PCYC will be running Laser Skirmish at the Murgon Show Grounds between 1:00pm and 6:00pm, followed by big screen coverage of the final Origin match.

In Cherbourg, the PCYC will be running After Dark nights at the Sports Complex on Thursday, July 2 and July 8 from 6:00pm until late to provide a free, fun night out for young people in conjunction with the CTC Youth Services Patrol, Barambah Health Services and Cherbourg Aboriginal Shire Council.

And in Kingaroy, the PCYC School Care program will be running at Taabinga State School at 2 Rae Street from Monday, June 29 through to Friday, July 10.

There’ll be different activities on offer every day, ranging from cookery to crafts, sports, gymnastics, and even and excursion to Gympie on Wednesday, July 1.
