Toowoomba Regional Council has approved a three-year extension to an economic policy designed to boost growth in Yarraman and 16 other regional townships.
Councillors today adopted a Planning and Development committee recommendation to extend the Temporary Economic Development Incentives for District Townships scheme for three years.
The original 30-month scheme had been due to expire on June 30.
Development Assessment portfolio leader Cr Chris Tait said the plan also included a discount for residential development in “Rural Charge” areas.
Cr Tait said Council was offering a flat charge to stimulate rural township residential developments.
“Council will include a flat charge of $7500 per dwelling or accommodation suite for residential development in the allotted area,” Cr Tait said.
