Coolaroo managed to shut down the Saints’ attack in Unders 16s

June 1, 2015

Another big win at home – this time over Coolaroo – means the South Burnett Saints men’s team has now overtaken Dalby on for / against at the top of the 2nd Division Darling Downs AFL ladder.

Saints started strongly at Lyle Vidler Oval on Saturday with six goals in the first quarter.

At half-time their lead had grown to 8.14 (62) to 2.6 (18).

It was obvious Coolaroo had no answer to the South Burnett defenders, and by full-time they had only managed three goals.

The final score was 19.25 (139) to 3.7 (25).

The Saints’ win could even have been higher if some of those minors had made it through the centre sticks.

Saints’ goals were kicked by Adam Bowater (4), Jayden Ewing (3), Dane Sheraton (3), David Black (3), Brad Edwards (2), Nicholas Krauksts, Paul Judge, Daniel Clacy and Bryce Commerford.

The reverse story was true in the U16s match between South Burnett and Coolaroo.

The young Saints were kept goalless in the first half, and were then simply swamped by the Roos.

The final score was 24.21 (165) to 1.4 (10).

Connor Lumsdale kicked the Saints’ lone goal.
