The South Burnett Regional Council has begun a series of hazard reduction burns across the region.

The operations, which are carried out by qualified and experienced operators, began in May and will continue until August.

A Council spokesman said the prescribed burns in Council Reserves also played an important role in biodiversity conservation.

Locations for the burns include:

  • Booie Reserve
  • Gordonbrook Dam
  • Coomba Falls
  • Maidenwell Reserve
  • Malar Reserve
  • Mt Stanley Road Reserve
  • Nanango Fauna Reserve
  • Proston East Reserve
  • Staines Road Reserve, Benarkin
  • Wondai East & Showground
  • Wondai West Reserve
  • Boondooma Dam
