The brain is a wonderful thing, but it’s also a source of mystery to most people, full of hidden thoughts and impulses.
So can we make brains work for us, not against us? Can we help children to develop “better” brains?
Kingaroy State High School’s P&C Committee is bringing the Pathways To Resilience Trust to Kingaroy next week to help answer some of these questions, and a lot more.
The free public presentation will take place in the Kingaroy SHS Assembly Hall on Monday (May 25) from 6:30pm.
The P2R Trust is a charitable organisation established with the specific purpose of promoting social and emotional learning and resilience in children, adolescents and families.
The P2R Trust team aims to assist in the prevention of anxiety, depression and youth suicide through education, mental health promotion and advocacy in schools and communities.
Their vision “is to see an Australia where young people and their families, regardless of location and background, are resilient, socially and emotionally competent and happy”.
The team will explain how neuroscience impacts social, emotional and academic learning in the classroom, and identify “neuro-friendly” principles to help children’s development.
As well as the public presentation, the team will also work with Kingaroy SHS staff and students on Monday and Tuesday.
The Kingaroy SHS P & C obtained funding from the South Burnett Mayor’s Community Benefit Fund to bring the P2R Trust Team to Kingaroy.
