Two elderly people from Wondai were taken to hospital for observation after a three-vehicle pile-up in Youngman Street, Kingaroy, on Monday morning.

Police said the 71-year-old woman driver and her 80-year-old male passenger were heading into Kingaroy when they apparently slowed as they approached the intersection with Albert Street.

The vehicle behind, a Toyota sedan driven by a 19-year-old Wondai man, also slowed, however the driver of an Isuzu Pantech truck following appears to have failed to notice the cars ahead were braking.

The truck hit the rear of the Toyota, pushing it into a stationwagon with the elderly pair on board.

The incident occurred just before 11:00am.

A 36-year-old Oakey man has been issued with a $265 ticket for following too closely to another vehicle.
