Murgon detectives are appealing for public help to help find the driver of a vehicle that approached a young boy at Durong yesterday.

Preliminary investigations indicate a nine-year-old boy was waiting for a school bus on Shellytop Road about 8:00am when a Toyota Landcruiser stopped next to him.

The boy told police the male driver – the sole occupant of the vehicle – tried to entice him into the vehicle several times before repeatedly yelling at him in an attempt to coerce him into the 4WD.

The boy refused and the vehicle drove off.

The boy was not physically injured and the man did not get out of the vehicle at any stage.

The man is described as Caucasian, with a solid build, short brown hair and a scar near his left eye. He was wearing white-rimmed sunglasses and a black singlet.

The vehicle is described as an 80s series Toyota Landcruiser, silver/grey in colour with faded paint in parts and in poor condition.

It had a black snorkel, black bullbar with a dent in it, one roof rack and side steps.

There was a large crack on the passenger side front windscreen, from top to bottom and spreading outwards, as well as a smashed driver’s side mirror with small shards of glass left in it.

The spare tyre on the rear had a black cover over it and a “Ravhead” sticker on the rear window.

Police are appealing for anyone who may have seen the incident, or observed a vehicle of this description in the local area yesterday to contact them.
