Wreckage of an overdue single-engine Jabiru aircraft has been found near Woolooga.

About 11:35am, the Australian Maritime Safety Authority was advised by Queensland Police that a landowner had come across objects on a mountain plateau on his property that could be related to an aircraft.

The landowner returned to the site with local police and several helicopter crew members to investigate the objects.

About 3:15pm, the objects were confirmed to be the wreckage of the overdue light aircraft.

The aircraft appears to have impacted the ground at high speed.

Search efforts continue on the ground to locate Rob Pavan, 60, the pilot of the aircraft.

The wreckage was located within the southern part of the search area, about 6km north-west of Woolooga.

UPDATE 6:30pm:  Police and other agencies have been searching today around the Woolooga area for the missing pilot.  The search has now been suspended this evening and is due to resume tomorrow.
