Kingaroy police are stunned that no one was killed when a Mitsubushi Magna stationwagon rolled on Stuart Valley Drive near Ellesmere on Monday afternoon.

The 28-year-old male driver and his 18-year-old female passenger, from Ellesmere, emerged from the crash unscathed, but the same can’t be said of their car which was a write-off.

Officer-in-charge of Kingaroy Police, Senior Sergeant Duane Frank, said the vehicle had been travelling into Kingaroy about 3:30pm when it left the road, rolled and hit a tree.

He said speed appeared to have been a factor in the crash.

“It was only luck that they weren’t killed,” Snr Sgt Frank said.

The A-pillar of the car collapsed in the crash bringing the roof down onto the driver’s head.
