Blackbutt Benarkin Community Council will be hosting a comedy film night for the over 16s on Saturday night (April 11).
The film is the M-rated “My Old Lady” – starring Kevin Kline and Maggie Smith – so this one is not recommended for the kiddies.
Mathias (Kline) travels from New York to Paris to sell a grand old apartment he has inherited from his estranged father. But he is stunned to find a spirited old lady, Mathilde (Smith), still living there with her very protective daughter Chloé (Scott Thomas).
The broke New Yorker discovers that under an ancient French law, he will not gain possession of the property until Mathilde dies …
The $8 entry tickets to the film can be bought in advance from the Blackbutt Post Office and Visitor Information Centre. Advance ticket purchases include a free bag of popcorn.
Tickets will also be available for sale at the door of the Blackbutt Memorial Hall on the night (but won’t include the free popcorn!).
The doors to the hall, a cash bar and snack bar will open at 6:30pm; and the movie will screen at 7:00pm.
The night is being sponsored by the South Burnett Regional Council.
