The BGA Agriservices Goomeri lucerne hay competition was once again run as part of the 2015 Goomeri Show at the weekend.

With more than 30 growers from around the district vying for the title of champion, the judge had a tough day of it.

In the end, Terry Court, from Goomeri was awarded the top prize.

The entries were some of the best hay seen at the show in years.

Second place went to David Rose, from Redgate, and third was split between Jason Wilson, Tansey, and Greg Sippel, Redgate.

After the presentation of the awards the hay was actioned off in front of a large crowd by local auctioneer and BGA Branch Manager Nev Holden.

As a result of the auction, $1300 was raised and split between the Show Society and Andrew Holden’s Ride To Conquer Cancer fund-raising campaign.

Speaking on behalf of the Goomeri Show Society and BGA Agriservices, Mr Holden thanked all the growers and buyers for once again making the competition a success in 2015.
