There was plenty of action in the South Burnett and neighbouring clubs this past week.
Most clubs are now pushing their club championships along, and all are looking forward to nominating teams for District Championships and eventually, the Champion of Champions titles in SE Queensland.
Kingaroy heads this week’s bulletin because their greens seem to be occupied almost every day of the week lately…

A great game of A Grade Championship Singles was held on Friday afternoon.
One player played using the old-style wide draw bowls and the other the newer, narrow draw bowls (or as some of the old folks call them, the “cheating bowls”).
Glen Yeates, who was using the newer draw bowl, skipped away to a 11 to 3 lead after 7 ends, only to see Mike Wyvill with his old faithful wide draw bowl take the next 3 ends to level at 11-all.
From then on to the 15th end it was shot for shot, but Mike only allowed Glen to score once more before going on to win the match 25 to 16.
A great game for the gallery!

The Ladies A Grade Singles quarter-final on Friday afternoon was a marathon of thirty-three ends.
The match between Lorri Holmes and Di Currell attracted quite a gallery.
Lorri won the mat first up and skipped away early. She was leading 6-3 after three ends, and led 11-6 after 10 ends and had a healthy lead of 23-16 after 25 ends.
Di won the mat after that and put pressure on Lorri with a few short ends.
After 32 ends, Di had fought back and was down 23-24. But a measure for a single on the 33rd end gave the match to Lorri.
Phew!
